World Renown Chocolate
People all over the world love chocolate. Did you know that each American eats almost 12 pounds of chocolate per year? And the great thing about chocolate is there are so many different types such as white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is preferred by most Americans, but dark chocolate is getting more popular every day.
Chocolate is a crowd-pleasing
ingredient used in many creative recipes.
Unsweetened chocolate, also
known as baking chocolate is pure chocolate liquor
with a distinctive chalky taste and
texture. This type of chocolate is usually found in squares and is ideal for baking cakes, brownies and cookies. Baking chocolate is not one that you would want to eat alone, because it is for baking only. But don't fret, there are other chocolates designed for eating only!!!
Milk chocolate has condensed milk or milk powder added and dark chocolate, sometimes called "plain chocolate," does not have milk as an additive and can be sweet dark chocolate, bittersweet or semi-sweet. Bittersweet and semisweet chocolate are often called dark chocolate.
A favorite among children is cocoa powder. This dry powder, when mixed with cold or hot milk makes a great beverage. Cocoa powder is also used in recipes for frostings and sauces. A chocolate that does not contain any cocoa is white chocolate. Eventhough this white version is not really chocolate, it still has the consistency and texture of the dark version.
Be Creative with Your Chocolate
These are just a few of the different types of chocolate available for drinking, baking and eating. You can spice up your yummy chocolate delights by experimenting and adding different flavors such as strawberry, mint or vanilla. Other ingredients such as fruit and nuts can also be added to your chocolates for scrumptious tastes.
I don't know about you, but I'm ready to experiment this life's little pleasure. See you in the kitchen for some mouthwatering milk chocolate treats.
