Spoons dipped in chocolate

Just the thought of licking a chocolate dipped spoon takes me back to the days of my childhood. Now, can you believe it, here is a recipe for this dark chocolate treat.

Chocolate Dipped Spoons will Make You Lose Control

A Dark Treat to Remember

Chocolate dipped spoons? I found the idea rather comical when I first heard about it. After all, the spoon is not exactly a symbol of elegance, or something you can eat for a snack.

I have heard of chocolate covered cherries, chocolate dipped grasshoppers, and all manner of other delicious and bizarre confectionery treats, but the chocolate dipped spoon was new to me. I didn't see the point – that is, until I tried baking chocolate treats for a preschoolers' party.

A Messy Mess!!!

The results were horrendous. The kids got chocolate all over their hands. Once it was on their hands, it quickly got on their faces, their clothes, the carpet, the walls – you get the idea. Before they were done with it, in fact, I had a chocolate dipped house.

That was when I learned the virtue of chocolate dipped spoons.

Children Can Deal with Chocolate Dipped Spoons

With chocolate covered spoons, you see, your kids have something to hold onto.

This eliminates the mess of having your little ones hold the chocolate by hand, and this is no small accomplishment.

That doesn't mean that you can't use these chocolate confections for more sophisticated audiences as well.

Yes, Gourmet Chocolate Spoons

I have had dinner parties with gourmet chocolate spoons, and I've got nothing but rave reviews. Of course, if you have a more sophisticated audience you don't want to use plastic spoons – those are for the kids. Besides that, everything else can stay remarkably the same.

The Recipe

There are many different ways of preparing chocolate dipped spoons. The simplest one is to just melt some Baker's chocolate and mix it with sugar, milk, and a touch of vanilla .

If you have never had homemade milk chocolate, you really have to try it. It is absolutely delicious. All you do once it is melted is scoop up the chocolate with a spoon and let it dry and hard in a bit.

Scrape off the excess chocolate from the bottom and the sides, and you are all set to serve.

Treats for Elegant Guests - White Chocolate Maybe?

If you decide you need a more elegant looking chocolate dipped spoon, it's easy too. A little bit of frosting or white chocolate on the top usually does the trick.

The end result is surprisingly attractive, and more appropriate for a dinner party setting. Kids like it too – kids love pretty things. Nonetheless, with little ones, plain old chocolate is usually enough.

Once they get the chocolate covered spoons in their little mouths, they are in heaven. And, when you look and see that the floor is not sticky, you will be in heaven too! Try this candy treat and you'll start serving the recipe time and time again!!!
